my Philosophy and method

I have been a passionate composer, piano teacher, theory teacher & piano examiner for many years.
I am also committed to mentoring teachers in establishing then growing their piano studios.

My fundamental philosophy is to build relationships that are friendly, uplifting, informative & fun for any age and skill level.
I live in Annerley, Brisbane, Australia, but teach online, I have been teaching and examining AMEB piano and theory for a long time.
While what's popular has changed, having fun, and making lessons relevant hasn't.
For me it's all about my piano students enjoying their learning while achieving their goals in whatever style appeals to them.

I write my own teaching resources & arrange traditional and contemporary pieces (jazz, pop, movies, classical) that my students request.
Every student has a bespoke individual program designed to help them achieve their goals.

My long-term goal for each piano student I teach, each piano teacher I mentor is to outgrow me, and to become fully independent & skilful in piano and theory, as well as business.

I also mentor piano teachers and students on how to set clear goals, & then design bespoke step-by-step strategies to achieve these.
Theory & Piano sheet music that is popular in my studio can be found in the Shop tab.

For this reason, I may not be the best fit for you, but I will certainly give you pointers on what to look for in a teacher if I can't help you.
